Farfromnowhere bounced back from a disappointing handicap debut effort at Galway, as she sprang a minor surprise in the Cheesestrings Irish EBF Mares Hurdle.

Sent off an 11/1 chance, the Paul Nolan-trained seven-year-old raced mainly in third under Sean O'Keeffe and wasn't fluent three flights from the finish.

Coming with her challenge between horses approaching the next, the Shirocco bay soon led and stretched clear on the run-in, ultimately coming home five-lengths to the good.

Returned at 4/1, Dream On Baby filled the runner-up spot under Donagh Meyler, while Jalila Moriviere (4/5f) had no apparent excuses and was another three-lengths back in third.

"I was fierce disappointed in Galway and it was maybe the few runs on faster ground," Nolan said of the John Brennan and David Flynn-owned victor.

"She was slow to take off in Galway and didn't seem to have any appetite for it. The race was over after two hurdles.

"She was going that bit better at home, nothing really obvious, but she was an awful lot better today.

"She jumped well and she travelled away. Sean said she wanted every bit of the two-and-a-half, they went a consistent pace from start to finish and he said she had a nice bit of gears at the end of it.

"She went through the gaps and jumped well.

"I'm just happy that she's back on track, whatever mark she's going to get.

"On ratings she was entitled to finish fourth and I was happy if she was going to be within seven or eight lengths of them.

"She fulfilled what we thought she might be and hopefully she can tip away now. I think she'll handle softer ground."

STEWARDS REPORTS

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Paul Nolan, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Farfromnowhere, placed first, as compared with its recent run at Galway on the 30th of July. Paul Nolan reported that his charge was outpaced the last day over two miles and that the step up in trip today may have contributed to the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation given.
