Faugheen performance pleases Walsh

Ruby Walsh remains impressed by the success of Faugheen at Kempton last week.

The Willie Mullins-trained six-year-old is still unbeaten after eight starts under Rules, and added a third Grade One to his burgeoning CV when readily beating Purple Bay in the Christmas Hurdle.

Walsh said: "Faugheen was very good on St Stephen's Day. It was a good performance, you can argue, in fact it's very easy to argue, that the race fell apart form wise when Irving didn't perform, but the second horse is a 161-rated horse and he dismissed him quite impressively.

"The time was good and you can only go out and win your race and that's what he did, he turned up and he won it."
