Feathard Lady Could Still Make Cheltenham

Colm Murphy has not abandoned all hope of Feathard Lady running in the Smurfit Champion Hurdle despite the mare suffering a setback in training.

The six-year-old has been ruled out of her next intended run in the AIG Europe Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown on January 29 after sustaining a leg injury.

Murphy told PA Sport: 'She has sprained her off-hind fetlock joint. She will definitely miss the Irish Champion Hurdle but we don´t know yet how long she will be out.'

'It´s hard to say anythingbout Cheltenham at the moment. We won´t know how long she will be off for another couple of days.'

Feathard Lady shot to the head of the Champion Hurdle betting after putting up a hugely impressive performance when lifting the Stan James Christmas Hurdle at Sandown on St Stephen's Day.
