February date for Thornton

Robert Thornton will see his medical advisors again next month in his race to return to the saddle.

The rider suffered a broken arm when the Richard Lee-trained Western Whisky fell at the seventh fence in the totetrifecta Handicap Chase at Hereford on December 11.

Thornton, stable jockey to the powerful Alan King yard, was initially told he could be out of action for three months, but vowed to return sooner.

He saw expert consultant Richard Keys on Wednesday afternoon, after which he tweeted: "Have to go back on 2/2/12 to see mr keys with a view to getting back on the track. £fingerscrossed."
