Fehily hopeful of quick return

Noel Fehily is hopeful of being able to ride again in less than a month, meaning that a dream ride on Kauto Star in the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day may still be a possibility.

The jockey had been in top form, including when substituting for the injured Ruby Walsh on Master Minded in the 1965 Amlin Chase at Ascot, however he suffered a suspected broken wrist after a fall on Rivaliste at the weekend.

But after an X-ray proved inconclusive, the Irishman is hopeful that he could be back in action sooner than expected.

"The doctor said to me that he's very hopeful that I could be back in two to three weeks - well before Christmas," he told At The Races.

"Realistically I'd have to be back riding a week before (Kempton)," he added.

"At this time of year you don't want to be rushing about too much but hopefully the weather will help me a bit. I'm the only one who wants the bad weather to continue!"
