Festival heroes score with Small Doses Last week’s Cheltenham festival winners trainer Paul Nolan and jockey Sean O’Keeffe combined for a Wexford success today, as well-bred Small Doses (3/1) landed the Treo Eile Maiden Hurdle for owner/breeder Anne Coffey. Nolan and O’Keeffe enjoyed separate Cheltenham winners last week with, respectively, Daily Present and Lecky Watson, and today Small Doses — himself a half-brother to the trainer’s Cheltenham victor Mrs Milner, scored by 1.5 lengths from Half Past Tipsy. Regarding Small Doses, whom Coffey owns in partnership with Susan Spence, Nolan reported “he had a few decent runs and if he hadn't been in the first three today we would have been very disappointed. “He was plenty green and reached for the second last, but then jumped the last nicely. He was wandering around in front, but he is a well-bred fella and hopefully he'll get better the older he gets. He's won his maiden now, albeit an unplaced one and we'll see what he gets and go from there." Quotes from Donal Murphy
