Last season's Supreme Novices' Hurdle hero Champagne Fever could make his chasing debut in the Connexus Communications Beginners Chase at Punchestown on Saturday.

The Willie Mullins-trained grey beat My Tent Or Your and Jezki in what was regarded as one of the hottest Festival openers for many a year, but he looked below his best when beaten at the Punchestown Festival a few weeks later.

Already ante-post favourite for the Arkle back at Cheltenham in March, if he takes up this option he will be running over two and a half miles.

He is one of 19 entries along with stablemate Ballycasey, the classy novice hurdler Our Vinnie, Dessie Hughes' Si C'Etat Vrai and Colm Murphy's Marlbrook.
