Fianna justifies market support in finale Fianna lands a gamble (15/2 — 4/1 CF) for local trainer Aidan Howard in the concluding Kwiff Supercharged Betting (Q.R) Handicap over a mile and two furlongs at the Curragh. Purchased by S. J. Mullin from Willie McCreery, she won on her second start for her new yard at Roscommon and backed it up in no uncertain fashion here. From stall 17, Oran McGill had his mount in touch with the leader throughout this race before breaking cover at the top of the straight. The Belardo mare was sent to the front under two furlongs out, and she kept up the gallop to score by a length and three quarters from her chief market rival, Justenzia (4/1 CF). Timandi (12/1) looked a major threat two furlongs out; however, she couldn't last home and finished third, beaten four and a half lengths. Winning trainer Aidan Howard commented, "She done it nicely. I was half afraid of the ground but I thought she was after coming on from the last day. Normally our horses run well up the Curragh. Oran gave her a fantastic ride.
