Field sizes cut at Fairyhouse

Due to alterations on the track at Fairyhouse, field sizes will be limited to a maximum of 16 for all races at the two-day meeting this weekend.

The limit will not have any affect on the three Grade 1 races on Sunday's Bar One Racing-sponsored card as there are 13 entries for the Hatton's Grace Hurdle, 10 are left in the Drinmore Novice Chase and just 8 in the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle.

Peddlers Cross is the chief absentee from the Hatton's Grace, with Solwhit and Hurricane Fly heading the five-day entries today.

Peter Roe, Acting Manager of Fairyhouse said: “We are delighted with the support we have had from trainers for our big races this weekend. The Bar One Racing Hatton’s Grace Hurdle looks like being a mouth watering clash featuring Solwhit, Hurricane Fly and Voler La Vedette, taking on last year’s top novices Luska Lad and Shinrock Paddy. The Drinmore will see all the top novice chasers in action while the Royal Bond will determine the pecking order for the Irish novice hurdlers."

He added: "The ground is currently soft, soft to heavy in places. The forecast is for a cold couple of days but, with a northerly breeze, frost will hopefully not be an issue. We are geared up for an exciting weekend with our Discover Meath Christmas Fair and our Support Your Sport initiative”.
