Fighting Tears makes a few layers wince Available at 50s early this morning and backed from 18/1 into 11/2 before the off, Fighting Tears landed a right touch in the Curragh's Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden over six furlongs. Having raced just behind the leaders towards the near side, the Lucky Vega filly finished well under Ronan Whelan and hit the front close home for a half-length victory over Roeillaun. The winner was acquired for just 3,000 euro at Goffs last November. “She’s a very nice filly, we like her. She’s shown us plenty of ability at home,” said winning owner/trainer Andy Oliver. “We don’t over-prep them first time out, they usually come on. They usually take a blow and need the experience but we were kind of hopeful something like that might happen on what she was showing us at home. “Ronan gave her a lovely ride. She loved the ground and was very straightforward. It’s nice to see. “The Round Tower could be a possibility, we’ve made no firm plans and we’ll see what else is available. “She hit the line strongly; she apparently took a blow at the furlong pole and then hit the line fairly well. “I wouldn’t be afraid of stepping her up but I don’t think I need to right away.
