Filbert outfoxed!

Heartbreak doesn't come much worse than watching your horse, clear of his rivals, fall at the final fence, but those who backed Filbert Fox to win Division 2 of the 4YO Maiden at Maralin on Saturday can count themselves extra unlucky!

The 4yo gelding had jumped the final fence safely, was three lengths clear and appeared 'home & hosed'. However, quite late on the run-in, Filbert Fox jinked badly right and unseated his rider Ben Crawford, leaving his sole remaining rival Bob Lewis to win under promising Northern rider William Thompson.

Filbert Fox was subsequently remounted to claim second spot.

Bob Lewis' trainer Ian Ferguson, as is the norm when your luck is in, went on to record a double later in the day.

Full marks to Healy Photography for again capturing the moment.
