Fine Rightly going for Gold

Stuart Crawford is set to let Fine Rightly take his chance in the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown on Saturday.

The County Antrim trainer is looking forward to stepping the progressive eight-year-old up to three miles in the valuable contest, formerly known as the Hennessy Gold Cup.

Though it is a Grade One, the race rarely attracts a lot of runners and Crawford reports Fine Rightly in fine shape following his latest effort, when he was fourth to Empire Of Dirt in the Coral.ie Leopardstown Handicap Chase.

"He's come out of that run well. I imagine the plan is to go to the Hennessy with him at Leopardstown," said Crawford.

O'Gorman was keen to lead early and got ahead of the prominent Paddy Twomey-trained Forthill, and this allowed the Oliver McKiernan-trained runner to get a run on his rivals. The onrushing Vervain could not get to the winner, as the daughter of Acclamation was narrowly denied by a head.
