Finnegan too strong for Jered Jered, former winner of the Champion Novice Hurdle at Punchestown, got turned over at 8/11 on his chasing debut at the venue. Noel Meade's charge was unable to peg back front-runner Major Finnegan in the Dobbins Panoramic Restaurant Beginners Chase. The winner had unshipped partner Davy Russell going to the start but was none the worse and made every yard a winning post in the two-mile contest. Jered tried hard to get on terms on the run-in but could only get within three-parts-of-a-length at the line. "He ran a race before the start even!" said winning trainer Liam Burke. "I always thought a lot of him but he was off for two years with a leg problem. He won a point-to-point first time and two nice hurdles. "He dictated from the start although that wasn't the plan. I was just afraid he might not see it out through lack of fitness. "Hopefully he'll improve and he's a decent horse. I'm happy to stay around that trip with him. On soft ground I don't think he'll get much further."
