Fire Ship set to skip Solonaway Deauville winner Fire Ship is likely to bypass a trip to the Curragh on Sunday week in favour of another cross-Channel jaunt next month. William Knight's progressive four-year-old claimed Group Three honours in Deauville's Prix Quincey late last month and holds an entry in the Solonaway Stakes on September 15. However, the English trainer is instead targeting a race at Longchamp on Arc weekend. "I was really pleased (at Deauville) as you are never quite sure if they are going to step up from handicap to Group company," Knight told At The Races. "Early on this year it looked like he was going to struggle slightly, but he's really come to himself in the middle of the season, winning at Pontefract impressively and then ran a very good race at Glorious Goodwood. "It was lovely to see him win a Group Three and I think with this horse ground is important. We'll go where there is soft in the going description. "He's got an entry in Ireland next week, but I think we'll probably bypass that and go straight for the Group Two at Longchamp on October 5 - the Prix (Daniel) Wildenstein."
