At Fishers Cross is out to land an overdue success in the Grade One Ladbrokes World Series Hurdle at Punchestown on Thursday.

The leading staying novice in the 2012-13 campaign, when he notched six wins on the bounce, including two at the top level, has been beaten in all his five starts since.

Trainer Rebecca Curtis revealed At Fishers Cross had a few niggly problems in the first half of the season, which were treated, and the seven-year-old has shown improved form in his last three starts.

Third in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at Cheltenham, he was runner-up to Whisper in the Silver Cross Stayers' Hurdle at Aintree earlier this month when it was discovered he lost a shoe during the race.

"Hopefully, the plan for At Fishers Cross is to go to Punchestown for the Ladbrokes World Series Hurdle," said Curtis.

"He seems to have come out of Aintree well and is in as good a form as ever really, so there is no reason why he shouldn't run well.

"The shoe hanging loose at Aintree did not help him. He jumped a bit right and came back a little bit sore on it, so it must have hindered him, but he ran a great race.

"It looks like there is going to be a bit more cut in the ground at Punchestown and that should be ideal for him."
