Flat target for Silk at Galway James Lambe was not surprised by Silk Hall's win in the Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary last weekend. The eight-year-old returned to his best to beat Steps To Freedom in the Grade Three event and booked his trip to Galway in the process. However, despite already having won over hurdles at the summer festival, he is likely to have a run on the level at Ballybrit. "I wasn't surprised by Silk Hall's win. He was well capable of that and he was back to his old form," said Lambe. "He had good form behind decent horses like Starluck in his time. He had excuses for his recent form and we thought he might be getting a bit lazy in his old age. "We put the blinkers on and they sharpened him up. He has the ability to mix it with the best and I wouldn't have run him there otherwise. "He'll likely go to Galway - probably for the two-mile flat handicap on the Saturday. He's rated 76 and he won a good handicap at the Curragh before. I think this race will be ideal for him."
