Galway Bay FM continued their comprehensive coverage of the action at Ballybrit this morning and Eddie Mulholland was again on reflecting on how things are going in the ring.

He explained: "I know people think that bookmakers are always giving the tale of woe but believe it or not we actually lost money at the track yesterday. The shops had a good day though.

"I'm trying to figure it out myself as to how we lost yesterday and I think myself and my father (John) are going to have to have a chat to see where we went wrong.

"There was a couple of little tips around there yesterday. A horse called Footprint that won at 14/1 wasn't a great result for us and Sister Slew. There was a bit of word around for her, she was tipped-up in the shops and a lot of people on the track fancied it.

"Tandem was backed off the boards but I think the winner of that race, Brendan Brackan was tipped up by Pricewise in the Racing Post so again people would be following his tips.

"So whilst the results looked very good to the lay person but when you delve deep down – Footprint being tipped up a little bit, Brendan Brackan being a Pricewise horse that kind of stuff – so there was just small little words around for one or two of these outsiders.

"Then of course the Rathlin was a very bad result for us. Tarfasha we probably over-laid that too much. I don't like taking on these 2/5 shots for too much money. We probably went a bit over our limit there.

"Then the last race – after a couple of winning races with Sister Slew and Footprint – we were ahead a few quid going into the last where we really took on the favourite (winner, Busted Tycoon).

"Would you believe the first four in the betting filled the first four places. The each-way money killed us in that one. We had a terrible result on that 8.15.

"We had a bad day at the track but look there's still five days to go.

"The Galway branch of the Alzheimer's Association will be the charity for today's bet."

George McDonagh put 50 Euro each-way (first 5 places at 16/1) on Klepht in the www.thetote.com Galway Plate. (EM)
