Flynn and O'Brien take opener at Naas

The Pat Flynn trained Inishtearaght got the better of a three-way finish when taking the opening Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap under Joseph O’Brien.

Flynn’s charge was challenging for the lead from over a furlong out and the 9/2 favourite kept on well on the run-in to lead just on the line and deny Gagnant by a short head.

Winning trainer Flynn said afterwards: “That was a tough mile, Joseph [O’Brien] said after Wexford he’d like to ride her more prominently today and we tried to do that.”

“She didn’t help him at all today, she fell out of the stalls. She is a lovely filly and we’ll get another win out of her.”
