Flynn keeping options open with Dr Mikey Stradbally handler Margaret Flynn will wait for the right novice contest for impressive Cork winner Dr Mikey. The Dr Massini gelding opened his account over timber in fine style at the Mallow track and had connections dreaming of a trip to Cheltenham in March. Flynn is excited by the potential of the six-year-old and is looking forward to testing him against better opposition. "We'll look for a novice somewhere for him," said Flynn. "Some of the novices are restricted up to 123. I had a chat with Noel O'Brien (handicapper) and he said he's way above that anyway. "We'll just try to find an ordinary novice hurdle for him somewhere and if he comes through that we'll step him up again. "I don't really like the ground they tend to get at Limerick at Christmas, but he might just get an entry there just in case. "We'll keep an eye on the programme book and see what is coming up. The novice races are scarce and some of them are very restricted. "He's more ideally suited by a galloping track and on ground that's not too bad." Dr Mikey had just lost out to Sunni May in Cork on his hurdling debut and that form got a significant boost with that rival taking a competitive rated novice hurdle at Punchestown. However, Flynn feels that her charge is better than he showed that day. "Our horse probably wasn't at his best that day. I kind of had my mind made up I wasn't going to run him and I left him alone all week. "He blew up a bit then. He hadn't really switched off as he tends to light up. He was probably better than that."
