The Jim Bolger trained Fiscal Focus recorded his second career win on his seventh start as he took the Easy Clean Limited 3yo Rated Race.

The son of Intense Focus won his maiden at Leopardstown in April but since disappointed on next two starts in handicap company.

Available at 11/2 this morning he opened on-course at just 9/2, the price he was returned.

Settled in third on the outer he travelled smoothly over two furlongs out with his four rivals all off the bridle.

He came under pressure a furlong and a half from home before getting on top in the closing stages going on to score by half a length under Kevin Manning. Ruler Of France ran well to finish second at 7/1 under Wayne Lordan for David Wachman while the 9/4 favourite Windward Passage was a further length back in third under Gary Halpin for Patrick Prendergast.

Bolger’s travelling head lad Ger Flynn said afterwards: "The two of them had a great battle down the straight. He handled the ground well, Kevin said it was just the slow side of good.

"Kevin always felt he was going to beat the horse on the inside. He was just doing enough.

"He is a horse with loads of ability and it was his first run for a while. There are plenty of races for him at the back end of the season."
