Pat Foley is aiming his smart sprinter Tango Flare for the €100,000 Listed Jebel Ali Racecourse & Stables Dash Stakes at the Curragh on Derby Weekend later this month, with the trainer also targetting the Bold Lad Handicap later in the season.

Winner of the Bold Lad Handicap at last year’s Champions Weekend, Tango Flare had previously finished third in the 2024 renewal of the Dash Stakes at the Curragh and, more recently, enhanced his excellent record in winning again at Fairyhouse on June 5.

Foley reports “Tango Flare is in the Dash on Sunday week at the Curragh. He’s been placed in it twice in the past so it suits him well. He’s going there now on the back of a win, so confidence is flying high.

“He might be a few pounds behind some of the others but he loves the Curragh and because he was placed in it before, it’s the obvious place to go back with him.

“He’s won three out of the four years in that Fairyhouse race and finished second the other year. I said to Peter Roe (head of HRI courses) that they should name the race after him!

“He’s after winning five races in his career and please God he’s not finished yet. He won the Bold Lad (Handicap, on Champions Weekend) last year and that is still probably the main aim for him at the end of the season.”
