Foley doubles up at Clonmel with Iron Fist Iron Fist (7/4 favourite) doubled his career total with a stout effort under Shane Foley in the Knocklofty Handicap on Clonmel's card. He made steady headway into third turning at the three pole and forward momentum saw him claim the leader Expound a furlong and a-half from home. The two battled it out coming to the final furlong where Iron Fist began to edge left off a straight line. This didn't deter him from finishing best to beat Expound (5/1) by a length and three-parts for trainer Jessica Harrington. There was a gap of a length and a-half back to third-placer Autumn Twist at 25/1. This brought up a double for Foley who was also successful on Ken Condon's So Golden. Assistant trainer Kate Harrington said: "It was a nice performance as he was carrying plenty of weight. He enjoyed the ground and Shane said he won despite not handling the track. "We thought an awful lot of him as a two-year-old, but he took a while to do things right although is doing things right now. It was a good performance, is an improving horse, and he really loves that ground." Iron Fist's other victory came in a maiden at Killarney in July. Additional reporting by Tom Weekes
