Forgotten Rules up in class Dermot Weld's hugely exciting Forgotten Rules is set to take the next step up the ladder in the Irish Field Loughbrown Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday. A wide-margin winner of a bumper at the Punchestown Festival, he made his debut under Flat rules at Galway and once again won as he pleased. Weld nearly ran him in the Irish St Leger, suggesting he is held in the highest regard at Rosewell, but instead he reappears at Listed level, as long as the ground is suitable. He is likely to be given most to do by Aidan O'Brien's Eye Of The Storm, who was asked to set a strong gallop in the Leger and dropped away to be 10th, but on the form of his Ballyroan Stakes win he has a chance of repeating last year's triumph. Another in the mix is Kalann, who was sent off an unconsidered 80-1 chance in the Doncaster Cup but was only beaten a length and a half by the Queen's Estimate. The seven-year-old will have the ground in his favour and should not be underestimated. Shu Lewis is a reliable yardstick in this company but was no match for Forgotten Rules at Galway and another to note is Jim Bolger's Altesse, who has only had two runs and was second in a Listed race when last seen.
