Starspangledbanner gelding, Secret Sauce trained by Fozzy Stack, secured his first win on the racecourse when dropping down into claiming company at Gowran Park in a mile contest this afternoon.

The 6/5 favourite, disputed the lead early on before moving up to take over proceedings.

Joey Sheridan asked for an effort passing the two pole, before asserting at the furlong marker, finishing three-and-three-quarter lengths clear of Miss Langmore

Last week, the winner finished fourth in handicap company over course and distance, and this victory came on his seventh career start.

Stack said:- “If he’s not claimed we’ll put him in something similar again.

“They are a great idea these claimers and I think all the low grade handicaps should be claimers. It gets a bit of trade going.”

There were no claims following the race.
