Irish jockey Fran Berry was referred to hospital for further assessment following a fall at Wolverhampton on Tuesday evening.

The rider parted company with Bamako Du Chatelet around two and a half furlongs from home in the Betway Live Casino Handicap.

Clerk of the course Fergus Cameron said: “He’s been referred to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton with possible shoulder and back injuries, although they are not thought to be serious.”

The stewards looked into the fall and found the incident to be accidental, pointing to Bamako Du Chatelet edging slightly left before catching the leg of rival Pure Country, causing the fall.

Fran Berry told www.sportinglife.com this morning: “I am awaiting a further scan on suspected spinal fractures and rib injuries but thankfully all my limbs etc are in working order.”
