France Galop expecting Arc ground to be good to soft Officials at ParisLongchamp say they are expecting “good to soft” ground for the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. An unusually dry spell has offered the promise of much quicker conditions than can usually be expected for the European middle-distance showpiece. Dry Spell Triggers ParisLongchamp Watering Plan Giving an update in a statement on Saturday afternoon, France Galop said: “Conditions are evolving, but the weather has remained unusually dry for this time of year, with no rain since September 8, the day after the Qatar Arc trials. “As of Saturday, the forecast is for light showers on Monday followed by heavier rain overnight from Wednesday into Thursday, with further showers possible during the day on Thursday. “On Friday the going at ParisLongchamp was good to soft (3.3). The track was watered on Friday evening to maintain the going at good (3.2) through to Monday, when showers are expected. “Further watering may be carried out in the middle of next week, depending on the weather. “Charles de Cordon (clerk of the course) and his team are expecting the going to be good to soft for the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe weekend.”
