Connections report that Frankel will definitely run in this afternoon's QIPCO Champion Stakes at Ascot.

There had been a slight concern the ground may be too demanding for the world's greatest racehorse, who has won 13 races from as many starts.

A dry night at the Berkshire circuit helped soothe those fears, with his participation in the Group One over a mile and a quarter now confirmed after owner Khalid Abdullah's racing manager, Teddy Grimthorpe, walked the track this morning.

Grimthorpe said: "It is a green light. We have to be happy (with the ground). They have done a very good job. It is a little bit softer from the 10-furlong to the mile, but it is certainly something I think he can cope with quite happily. And the ground is fine in the straight. I haven't spoken to the Prince this morning but he knows what's happening and I've spoken to Henry. We are looking forward to the race. The interest and excitement has been unprecedented and superb. We realise this is a pretty much unique opportunity to showcase our sport and this horse is the showcase."
