Frankel half-bro 7th on debut October cards at Nottingham don't ordinarily attract much in the way of interest but the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E.B.F. Maiden Stakes that opened the card at the Midlands track on Wednesday saw one of the most eagerly awaited debuts of the season. As a half-brother to Frankel, Noble Mission and Bullet Train, plenty was expected about Morpheus and Sir Henry Cecil's charge was sent off as second favourite for the opening contest on Nottingham 's card behind market leader Tawhid. Sir Henry Cecil had previously described his colt as being more of a three-year-old type and his opinion was vindicated by his performance on the day. Held up in the early stages having missed the break slightly, the son of Oasis Dream made some encouraging headway as they turned in but he was ultimately unable to quicken as the more experienced sorts went away. The market had it very much right as Tawhid (6/4) accounted for fellow Godolphin inmate, Personable (9/1) by an easy four lengths. Morpheus finished seventh as he was pushed out with hands and heels by Tom Queally.
