Free day at Downpatrick

Downpatrick racecourse have announced free admission for the second day of its comeback meeting a week tomorrow.

Course manager Iain Duff said today: 'Racegoers will be allowed in free provided they carry a copy of the Sun newspaper. The newspaper are underwriting the operation and we will be hoping to have a near full house.'

The two-day meeting will be the first held in Northern Ireland since the foot-and-mouth crisis erupted at the end of February.

Admission charges will be normal for racing on Friday evening.
