Freescape booked his annual passage to Dubai with a win in the www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap at Dundalk today, earning a third trip to the big-money winter series.

The David Marnane trained four year old son of Cityscape has competed at the last two Meydan festival meetings and while he had failed to win in six starts at the Dubai venue, did finish third at Listed level in 2018 and again finished third in a valuable handicap last February.

Today Freescape gained his third career win, under jockey Declan McDonogh, when beating Kafu by a length and a half.

Afterwards Marnane reported “timing is everything and he’s invited for Dubai. He’s been there for the last two years and to be fair he’s run better there than anywhere so he’s definitely going to go back.

“It was probably trainer error running him over shorter before as it looks like he stays every bit of the mile.

“I was going to run him back over seven on December 20th but he’ll go straight to Dubai now. I’m delighted for Denis McGettigan who is involved in him and would love to have a winner out there.

“We wanted to see him run a nice race to warrant going out to Dubai and that pretty much nailed that so we are delighted.”
