Further Flight dies Barry Hills` grand campaigner Further Flight was put down this morning after suffering a serious leg injury while turned out to grass.The 15-year-old grey retired from racing in October 1998 and had spent the time since his last race with the trainer`s son, Michael, who was his regular jockey, at his home near Newmarket.Further Flight won 24 races including a record five consecutive Jockey Club Cups at Newmarket from 1991, the 1990 Tote Ebor, two Goodwood Cups (1991 and 1992) and Doncaster Cup (1992).He gained his last win at Nottingham in April 1998.A spokeswoman for the trainer said: 'Further Flight was sadly put down this morning. He injured a near-hind leg in the paddock at Michael Hills` where he had been since he was retired.'He was turned out in the paddock when the injury occurred.'
