After getting in as a reserve, the 7/2 favourite Future Romance showed a good attitude to win the TipperaryRaces.ie Handicap.

Settled in mid-division by Wayne Lordan, the grey was pushed along three furlongs out before closing on the leaders early in the straight. She challenged Petitioner inside the final furlong and stayed on well under pressure to wear down that one by three quarters of a length.

It was a repeat win over course and distance for the Aidan Howard-trained daughter of Mastercraftsman who had scored here on her previous outing in early June.

“She likes that trip and likes that ground,” said Lordan.

“I was delighted that she got in being third reserve.

“I was drawn wide so went forward and got a nice position. She’s a very straightforward filly that tries which is half the battle. She likes to get her toe in so it was ideal conditions.”
