Teenage jockey Jordan Gainford sealed the first double of his fledgling career at a well-attended Tyrella point-to-point on Saturday.

The Co Wexford native, who is based with Colin Bowe, made the journey north to boot home the brace for handler Warren Ewing.

Only The Bold (7/1) quickened clear before the final fence in the Armstrong Auctions 5yo Geldings Maiden to come in by an emphatic nine lengths.

Gainford said: "A very nice horse - he loved the ground and jumped beautifully.

"I just tried to get him company the whole way because once I got him company he travelled a lot better.

"I turned in and just gave him a kick and he just took off again and winged the last.

"Nothing phased him and he is very straightforward. He carried me everywhere and has a lovely turn of foot."

This five-year-old Jeremy gelding had unseated on his only other start at Borris House in December.

An enterprising ride on fellow 7/1 chance The Great White reaped dividends in the concluding F.S. Herron 6yo Geldings Maiden.

Gainford made all and his mount powered clear after the penultimate fence to leave the opposition toiling.

The jockey said of the 11-length winner: "My main thing was just trying to keep him relaxed. He jumped like a buck.

"I thought maybe I had gone a little bit too hard but when I turned in he took off again. He picked up very, very well.

"That's my first double and I have six point-to-point winners now, and two on the track."

The 7lb claimer won the hunters chase at Down Royal on St Stephen's Day on board 25/1 shot Dylrow for David Christie.
