Galileo tops Juddmonte acceptors

Aidan O`Brien`s Galileo heads a total of 29 horses left in the Juddmonte International Stakes at today`s latest acceptance stage.

The dual Derby and King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes winner is one of 10 Ballydoyle possibles for the 10-furlong contest at York on August 21.

O`Brien`s Hemingway, who has not been seen out this season but is unbeaten in two starts, stands his ground, as does Irish 2000 Guineas and St James`s Palace stakes winner Black Minnaloushe.

Medicean, who has already claimed two Group One races this season, is one of three still in the £450,000 race under the care of Sir Michael Stoute.

Stoute`s trio is completed by impressive Ayr Scottish Classic winner Carnival Dancer, and No Excuse Needed.

Last season`s Vodafone Derby second Sakhee made a successful return from injury at Newbury last month and is one of four acceptors for Godolphin.

And this year`s Derby third Tobougg, along with Broche and Noverre, complete the Dubai organisations quartet.

Luca Cumani`s progressive colt Xtra is one of 37 horses remaining in the £150,000 Great Voltigeur Stakes on the same card.

The son of Sadler`s Wells could well be a possible contender for the Rothmans Royals St Leger at Doncaster in Septmeber and landed a Listed race at Haydock last month.

All the leading fancies are among 66 horses to have stood their ground for the Tote Ebor the following day.

However, Paul Cole`s Archduke Ferdinand and the Sir Mark Prescott-trained Foreign Affairs are both unlikely at this stage to take their chance.

Stoute`s Cover Up, winner of the Ascot Stakes and second to Cole`s charge in the Foster`s Northumberland Plate, received a boost when his Ascot victim First Ballot scored at Goodwood yesterday.
