Vincent Finegan and Ronan Groome have highlighted two horses to follow in the mile-and-a-half Guinness 0.0 Handicap at Galway (5.40) on Thursday.

irishracing.com editor Vincent Finegan expects Eagles Dream who finished fourth in a handicap at Ballybrit on Monday, to step up, while AK BETS trader Ronan Groome is backing Martin Brassil’s Zariygan.

Experience Key For Eagles Dream

“One to follow that ran in Galway on Monday, and I think it might win on Thursday in Galway is Eagles Dream,” explained Vincent Finegan on irishracing.com’s The Irish Angle show this week.

John Murphy ran her in a much hotter race on Monday. It was a 0-90, three-year-old race and she finished fourth to Kilmeaden. Now she will go in a 0-70 for three-year-olds and up.

“I think that experience from the other day will stand to her, and I think she has a good chance.

“The draw isn't ideal, 16, but it is a mile and a half race so I'd be hoping for good ground there. Nathan Cross rides the horse.”

’Hugely Significant’

Ronan Groome was less confident in his selection, suggesting punters wait to see where the money is before backing Zarriygann.

“It just goes to show how tight the handicaps are at Galway, it's a full field of 18 with five pounds between them. It’s so hard to get into a race there.

“I’m half looking at profiles and waiting to see if the money comes for them because then that's obviously hugely significant.

“A horse trained by Martin Brassil, previously trained by Mick Halford and Tracy Collins, who ran in that Grade three at Tipperary on the last day.

“He fell, which wasn't ideal, but he was 80/1 on the day. I'm sure it was just a bit of a pipe opener. He's rated 135 over hurdles. He's 68 back on the flat with just five runs and loads of scope to improve there.

“If you saw a bit of money coming for him in the morning, I think that'd be hugely significant. So that'd be definitely one I'd look out for.”
