Galway attendance up, betting down Today's crowd figure at Galway was up over 600 on the opening evening at last year's Festival, with 17,961 in attendance compared with 17,342 in 2009. However the betting numbers were not so encouraging as both turnover in the ring and the Tote aggregate were down on the figures of 12 month's ago. Bookmakers turnover showed a decrease of 4% at €1,678,949 compared to €1,748,693 last year, while the Tote aggregate of €702,081.48 was down over 10% on last year's figure of €785,633.00.
