Gangster Granny strikes again at Downpatrick The Colin McBratney-trained Gangster Granny (6/1) was an easy winner of the Franco Hughes Away Bet Mares Handicap Hurdle for jockey Sean Flanagan. The five-year-old mare had scored on her last start over course and distance and improved again, showing a really good attitude to land the contest by six lengths. Speaking after the race, trainer McBratney said: "She is just improving all the time. "There's a race for her back here again, and it is just amazing what she is doing. "Nice prize today and a very competitive handicap. "She seems to have a bit of a fan club now! "She is brilliant for me and for James (Murdoch, owner) too. Bought cheap enough and Mrs Harrington said a change of yard might help her. "I worked her Thursday week ago and Sam, who rides her, said it was as good as he ever felt her.
