Gar too strong for rivals

Our Gar opened his account in great style in the Kells Maiden Hurdle at Navan to continue a good weekend for the Prunella Dobbs yard.

Dobbs, who saddled Our Girl Salley to land the bumper at Limerick yesterday, welcomed back the Rashar gelding after a nine-length romp.

Barry Geraghty sent the seven-year-old into the lead before the second last and he stretched clear before the final flight to account for Johnnyofcourse

The gelding carried the colours of Ann O'Neill, a neighbour of the winning trainer in Wicklow, who also owns yesterday's winner.

"That's absolutely wonderful. The owners have been incredibly patient with him and I'm so grateful as they waited and waited. He hasn't been the easiest to train" said Dobbs.

"To have two winners in two days is great - it's a first for me. The owners are neighbours of mine.

"Chasing will be his forte but we'll stay hurdling for a little big longer and he'll go for a handicap next."
