Ryan Moore had to settle for second in a couple of the stakes races at Cork but came away with a winner courtesy of 6/5 favourite Garden Party s gutsy display in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden over a mile and a quarter.

The Coolmore-owned daughter of Wootton Bassett hit the front early in the straight, but was headed at the two-pole by market rival Zadawa Rallying for Moore, she was back in front a furlong out and kept on well to score by three-parts of a length.

Chris Armstrong, representing winning trainer Aidan O'Brien, explained "She had two lovely runs in maidens last year, but has taken a while to come to hand this year. She had been perfect all year, but just took time to come to hand, and has done well mentally and physically over the past six weeks.

"She was just ready to start back today, so you'd think there will be plenty of improvement from her.

"She is between a mile and a mile and a quarter-filly and we'll find black type for her next. Ryan gave her a lovely ride and it is a nice bracket to get."
