Gardens out to bloom again in Curragh Iveagh Gardens is out to prove her victory over Found was no fluke in the TRM Ballyogan Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday. Trained by Charles O'Brien, Iveagh Gardens was supposed to be nothing more than a bit-part player as Group One winner Found made her seasonal reappearance in the Athasi Stakes, but the JP McManus-owned filly sprang a 25-1 surprise. With Found looking home and hosed inside the final furlong, the daughter of Mastercraftsman showed an impressive turn of foot in very deep ground to win going away by two lengths. Found has since franked the form by narrowly being beaten in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, and O'Brien hopes the rain continues to fall. The Co Kildare handler said: "The more rain the better for her. She's dropping back in trip from seven furlongs to six, but I don't see that being a problem, as long as we continue to get some rain. "She actually won her maiden over this course and distance, so I'm not too worried about that. "When she beat Found she showed a really impressive turn of foot. It wasn't a surprise as I've always known she has plenty of ability, but she's just so ground dependent. "When the mud is flying she doesn't just handle it better than the others, she improves for it. "Always making life tougher is the fact she's carrying a penalty for her win in the Athasi, but we can't do anything about that." Dermot Weld's Stormfly has some good form to her name and while she could manage only seventh in the Irish Guineas, she was only beaten just over four lengths. James Tate's Blhadawa took a big leap forward to win a Listed race at Haydock last time out, while Rae Guest runs Cape Factor, a Listed scorer last year but well beaten on her reappearance. Newsletter, placed in the Queen Mary last season and a Listed winner at Nottingham recently, and Anippe are others to consider in a tight contest. Steip Amach, who claimed the Killavullen Stakes last season, has also been declared by the Jim Bolger yard.
