Kobalt St Georges doubled up at Clonmel when asserting late on to land the Prior Park Service Station Handicap Chase this afternoon.

The Robert Tyner-trained gelding had won over just shy of two-miles-five here a fortnight ago and went to post 7/2 favourite today dropping in trip.

Philip Enright produced his mount to challenge over the second last and he had the advantage over the final fence as he went on to beat Onefortheditch by two-and-a-quarter lengths.

"He was bound to come on a little bit from his win the last day but I thought two miles (and-one) might catch him today,” said Tyner.

“I also didn't want to come back 14 days later but there was nothing else suitable coming up.

"We'll go steady now as he has run twice in 14 days and he will probably go back hurdling at some stage, although he jumps so well that he mightn't be as effective back over hurdles."
