Geraghty gives up Ascot mounts

Barry Geraghty gave up his rides at Ascot on Sunday after hurting his elbow in a fall on Friday.

Although he was in winning action at Ayr's Scottish Grand National meeting on Saturday, the jockey has decided to give the injury time to heal so he can be 100% for the Punchestown Festival that starts on Tuesday.

Geraghty suffered a fall from Larks Lad at Ayr on Friday but continued to ride and completed a treble at the Scottish track on Saturday.

"It's just a fall I got on Friday. My elbow's giving me a bit of trouble but it should be fine and it's nothing major," said Geraghty.

"With Punchestown around the corner I thought I'd give it every chance to get better.

"I didn't get much rest on Saturday and I don't see any problems for Tuesday."
