Geraghty hopes Whisky real deal Barry Geraghty believes Oscar Whisky's Champion Hurdle pretensions will become clearer after he runs next in the Welsh Champion Hurdle at Ffos Las on February 5th. Fourth in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle last season behind Menorah, Get Me Out Of Here and Dunguib, that remains his only defeat after his easy win at Cheltenham last week. The Nicky Henderson-trained six-year-old is owned by Dai Walters, who also owns Ffos Las, so his target was easily reached. "Going into the race we were just hoping he was as good as we thought, so it was great that he did what he did," said Geraghty on his blog on www.goracing.ie. "He was only four lengths behind Menorah in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle on his last run, and he was novicey enough that day. "I'm not saying that he is a better horse than Menorah or that he would have beaten him if he had more experience, but I knew he wasn't far off a horse that I would consider to be one of the big players. "Oscar Whisky could well be a Champion Hurdle horse now. He'll go for the Welsh equivalent on February 5th next and we'll know more after that, but he's certainly exciting."
