Ghimaar & Caracciola head Henderson charge

Old-timer Caracciola will be part of a potential team of four from Nicky Henderson's stable at Royal Ascot next week.

The Piers Pottinger-owned gelding was 12 when he won last year's Queen Alexandra Stakes and returned from a 10-month absence over a much shorter trip at York, where he was not given a hard race.

Ghimaar, an effortless winner over hurdles at Worcester on Sunday, the Swinton Hurdle hero Eradicate and the smart handicap hurdler Sentry Duty could complete the field from Seven Barrows.

"We like to have a few runners," said Henderson.

"Ghimaar, who won well the other day, is most likely for the Ascot Stakes. We are going to put Eradicate in the Duke Of Edinburgh while Sentry Duty is lurking there at the moment.

"Caracciola seems in good form and he's going to try to defend his title as a teenager in the Queen Alexandra."
