Gibbons arrested at Wolverhampton

Jockey Graham Gibbons was arrested after racing at Wolverhampton on Monday on a matter believed to be unrelated to the sport.

The rider was taken into custody after recording a double at Dunstall Park.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: "We have arrested a 31-year-old man on behalf of North Yorkshire Police."

Kate Hills, communications director for Wolverhampton's owner ARC, confirmed police had attended.

She said: "I can confirm the police attended Wolverhampton and asked to speak to Graham Gibbons.

"We understand it is not related to racing."

Gibbons had enjoyed a successful afternoon at the track, riding two winners from three rides, including when landing a gamble on Singzak in the mile-and-a-half handicap.

However the rider has battled with alcohol in the past, being handed a 35-day ban in 2007 for failing a test when due to ride and subsequently being banned from driving for four years in 2011 when found asleep in his car by police.
