The evergreen Fr Gilliansvoyge bagged back-to-back wins when claiming the New Forest Estate & Golf Club Handicap Chase at Kilbeggan tonight.

John Carr’s consistent 13-year-old was a cosy winner at Tramore a week ago and went to post a 6/1 shot this evening.

He travelled smoothly for Eoghan Finegan to challenge going to the last in the three-mile-one contest and kept on well in the closing stages to post a two-and-a-half length win over front-runner Gorthill

“I thought it was a bit quick for him, after last week, but we brought him to the strand at Laytown on Wednesday and he absolutely flew up it so we said we’d take our chance again,” said Carr.

“The ground changed a lot on him and didn’t really suit him as he wants really good ground.

“They didn’t go that quick early on and it gave them all a chance.

“It was great to see, it’s his third win this year.

“I don’t think there is much rain coming so it might dry up again. We’ll keep him going as long as he’s in good form.

“There is a race in Ballinrobe for him in about a fortnight’s time. He was placed there before so we’ll try and go there next.”

It was a double on the card for jockey Finegan, who had also partnered Puppet Master to success in the opener.
