Glory To Be wins for Billy Lee Glory To Be (11s — 9/1) registered a second career success today, landing Leopardstown’s FM104 "Giddy Up" Handicap for jockey Billy Lee, trainer Michael Grassick and the Back Nine Bandits Partnership. The daughter of Cotai Glory was late trainer Kevin Prendergast’s final runner before his passing last June and, for Grassick, she today added to a maiden success last October. Racing in mid-field, Glory To Be improved to lead in the final furlong and scored by a half-length from Goal Exceeded . Grassick said “It was a great run the last day when Wayne (Lordan, rider then) said it was unfortunate that the winner just hit her right on the line, so didn’t get a chance to fight her off. All she wants to do is get into a battle and she stayed the seven furlongs really well today. “We always thought she would stay but we kept her in the five and six furlong-maidens last year because they are less competitive. She had no problem staying seven furlongs today and probably didn’t know herself, as she was in her comfort zone early on and seemed to enjoy it. “Hopefully she’s a fun filly and we’ll find something with her now. There is a nice fillies handicap in Gowran next Wednesday, so we might look at that.” Quotes from Gary Carson
