Godolphin Bid For More Ascot Glory

Electrocutionist is reported to be in top trim ahead of the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot on Wednesday.

The brilliant Dubai World Cup winner, who will be ridden by Frankie Dettori, faces six rivals in the Group One contest ? a race in which Godolphin have savoured a noteworthy degree of success in recent times.

Electrocutionist will hope to follow in the hoofprints of some impressive Godolphin winners such as Grandera (2002), Fantastic Light (2001), Dubai Millennium (2000) and Faithful Son (1998) who all won the 10-furlong event.

Although the five-year-old entire has not been seen since defeating Wilko by three lengths in Dubai, trainer Saeed bin Suroor revealed the former Valfredo Valiani inmate, a ready winner of last season's Juddmonte International, has been primed for the Prince of Wales's Stakes since winning the Dubai World Cup.

'We gave him a break after winning the Dubai World Cup,' bin Suroor told www.godolphin.com.

'The Prince of Wales's Stakes has been his target since then.

'He has been working nicely and I am happy with him ? we will see how he gets on.'

Brian Meehan has warned David Junior's rivals he could be open to even more improvement this summer.

The four-year-old colt went from strength to strength last year and crowned a superb season with victory in the Champion Stakes at Newmarket.

He then confirmed himself as a horse with star potential by putting a high-class line-up to the sword in the Dubai Duty Free on his last start at Nad Al Sheba in March.

'He's in great health and we are really looking forward to running him,' said the Manton handler.

'I'm happy about how things have gone since Dubai and you'd like to think there has been more (improvement) since then ? but you just never know.

'Jamie (Spencer) rode him last week and is also very happy with him.'

Superstar mare Ouija Board is also among the small but select seven-runner field for the Prince of Wales's Stakes.

Ed Dunlop's five-year-old, runner-up to Shirocco in the Coronation Cup, will be ridden by Olivier Peslier with Dettori and Spencer already spoken for.

Kieren Fallon is also unavailable as he partners Coronation Cup fourth Ace, who is trained by Aidan O'Brien.

Peslier is no stranger to success at Royal Ascot ? he has won there 10 times in the last 10 years ? and is hoping for more glory aboard Ouija Board.

He said: 'I am very excited by Ouija Board as she is a very tough, strong mare.

'I have seen her many in times in places like Japan and Hong Kong and she is a lovely mare.

'I enjoy riding at Ascot and I think she has a good chance.

'She's doing very well and I am very happy to ride her.'

French raider Manduro has been supplemented for the race and is in rude health, according to connections.

The four-year-old is trained by Andre Fabre and owned by Baron Georg von Ullmann, who are also responsible for Shirocco.

Manduro created a favourable impression winning the Prix d?Harcourt at Longchamp on his debut for Fabre in April and was last seen finishing second in a Group One in France.

'He is very well and Mr Fabre seems to be very happy with him,' said Baron von Ullmann's racing manager Paul Harley.

'He is an interesting type and we have supplemented him on the advice of his trainer.

'Mr Fabre obviously wouldn't be advising us to supplement him if he didn't think he had a chance.

'We don't feel the ground would be a problem at all. We wouldn't have taken that risk if we felt that could have been an issue.

'It's a tall order but he does go there with a chance.'

Sir Michael Stoute's Brigadier Gerard Stakes winner Notnowcato, ridden by Mick Kinane, and the French gelding Corre Caminos complete the field.
