Godolphin Eye American Return For Cat

Discreet Cat, Godolphin's talented unbeaten colt, is likely to work next week with a possible view to making his comeback at Belmont Park in July.

The three-year-old UAE Derby winner, who has won his three starts to date in decisive fashion, bypassed this year's American Triple Crown series to be prepared for some of the major races in the second half of the season in the USA.

And with Discreet Cat set to be put through his paces some time soon, connections of the son of Forestry are eyeing the Grade Two Dwyer Stakes at Belmont on July 4 as a viable comeback race for the son of Forestry.

'It looks like he'll do a piece of work in a few days,' said Rick Mattee, who oversees trainer Saeed bin Suroor's Godolphin runners in New York.

'The Dwyer is the race we're kind of pointing for.

'The timing should work out good and it's a mile and a sixteenth (an extended mile).'

The form from Discreet Cat's six-length romp in the UAE Derby in March has also been given a major fillip after Invasor, who finished fourth in Nad Al Sheba, won a Grade One event in Pimlico last Friday.

'We certainly had the home field advantage in the UAE Derby, but he beat a good field and did it the right way,' Mattee told the New York Racing Association.

'He's an exciting horse and it was nice to see the race?s form hold up.'

Despite their poor form in Britain, Godolphin had further cause to remain upbeat after former Brian Ellison inmate Ashkal Way won on his American debut at Belmont.

The four-year-old was a useful handicapper in England and looks to be still on the upgrade judged by this one-and-a-half-length victory on the turf over an extended mile.
