Godolphin made a significant early statement at the prestigious Tattersalls Book 1 Yearling Sale, spending 4.6million guineas to secure the highest-priced yearling purchased anywhere this year during the opening session at Park Paddocks.

The son of Night Of Thunder out of three-time winner and Pretty Polly runner-up My Astra, he continued a remarkable spending spree from Sheikh Mohammed's team.

It was also the second time in the space of a few hours Godolphin had brought the hammer down for the highest worldwide fee for a yearling in 2026 and also the second-highest yearling ever sold at Tattersalls behind the 5million guineas sale of the filly subsequently named Al Naamah in 2013.

“He was a really beautiful colt, by Night Of Thunder from a very good family,” Anthony Stroud, a key member of the Godolphin buying team told Tattersalls.

“He is a particularly taking individual. He has the pedigree, he's got the looks, he's got stallion potential, and is just an extremely nice horse coming from a very good stud, and we couldn't be happier. It was the top end of our valuation.”

Godolphin had earlier bought Croom House Stud's colt by the late Wootton Bassett out of the Listed winner Loch Lein for a then 2026 record 3.8million guineas.

Stroud said: “He is an extremely nice horse, an outstanding horse, by Wootton Bassett and there are not so many to come from him now.

“This colt is from a wonderful farm that has bred countless good horses and the whole team liked him.”

Other notable seven-figure purchases from the ruler of Dubai's team include a Frankel colt for 1.8million guineas and another by Ghaiyyath for 1.3million.
